Patrick Brosnan

Patrick Brosnan
I have been working with Cameras since High School, but the real learning took off when I got my 1st digital, a Canon 10D. Now I dabble in all kinds of photography.  I spend a lot of time shooting my daughters sporting events.  Life is always in motion and I think Scuba will soon take my photography under the waves.

Edmund Prescottano
Anticipating retirement, I have focused on photography to occupy my free time. To me there was a visual awakening as I began to look for and see light, color, shape and  pattern in the world around me. I was astounded by what I began to see, and challenged to convey this visual impression in the images I took. My interest include nature, wildlife and landscape photography, and as a member of gateway Camera Club hope to increase my knowledge and expertise in other photographic areas.

Jessica Vasale

Jessica Vasale
My interest in photography started when I was young, always having a camera with me to capture memories with friends and build photo albums of places I’ve visited.  My main photographic interest is Nature, in all forms.  About ten years ago I become SCUBA certified and shortly thereafter I brought the photography bug with me under water, first with a 35mm film camera then a digital SLR.  I love capturing the beauty of the sea - the amazing creatures, the colors, and the camouflage- that makes the underwater environment so spectacular.  Through these images I share my excitement of the sea with others who wouldn’t otherwise experience the underwater world first hand.   I have compiled some of my favorite images on my website www.jessicavasale.com .

I have been an avid picture taker for forty years, but only an aspiring photographer for the past five or six of those years. My interest in photography started when I needed to learn and use scientific photography skills to acquire information as a necessary part of my job. I joined GCC one year ago. I don't have a single favorite place to take pictures, but would include Paris, Alaska and the US national parks as among my favorites. Locally I like the Boston Public Gardens since it offers a good variety of scenes.

Jim DeLuco
Jim Deluco
Jim is a professional photographer who hates writing about himself in the third person. Born to poor black sharecroppers in the deep South Newton, Mass, his parents worked long hours in the cotton field behind the bocce court. Jim somehow grew up to be an Italian photographer...go figure. He does photograph non-Italians sometimes, specializing in weddings and portraits. Jim's first 35mm camera was purchased while in Vietnam. His M16 jammed during a firefight and he had to battle a tiny man in black pajamas for about 30 minutes till he finally wrestled his camera away from him. The VC reluctantly took the M16. Cameras were expensive back in '65. Jim is a past President of Colonial Camera Club, driving it into extinction. In 2005 he set his sights on Gateway. He's won several photography awards, including the NECCC Slide of the Year in 1994 and 1995, and Ex-husband of the Year in 1999. As a proud parent and grandparent, Jim lives in Hudson - http://www.delucophoto.com .

I started in photography in 1985 when I bought a Minolta 7000 (known in the USA as Maxxum 7000), which as I learned recently, was one of the first Auto focus cameras. I mostly used this during vacations and on parties. It took another technological innovation to really get me hooked.

My world is changing as digital photography becomes more of my every day life. I am constantly learning and trying new things. My most recent adventure is taking a Lacrosse game that my grandson was playing in. Talk about action! My exhibit at the Middlesex Savings Bank in Natick, MA ended on April 22nd and it has been a wonderful experience. I have enjoyed listening to the comments of people who came to see it. This has encouraged me to have another solo exhibit.

Alan Kidawski
Alan Kidawski
Alan J. Kidawski - I had a humble photographic beginning in Medford, Mass in the late 60’s. I bought a Kodak Retina Reflex X with interchangeable lens and shutter speeds and I was hooked, big time. Every month I walked to Hunt Drug Store, then located on Main St., Malden. That was when Hunt’s only had one isle of photographic STUFF. I carved out a space in my parent’s basement and built my first darkroom with running water and an office. I started my quest to earn a living taking photos. On my trek to the Stuff store I would photograph all sorts of things along the way. The one that made me the most money was photographing kids being kids. I wrote down their addresses and phone numbers, then pried $5.00 for an 8x10 photo from the parents of the kids, and would have money for my next trip to the Stuff store. I was 16 at the time.

Phyllis Wiseman
It seems that I have been involved in photography most of my life.  When I was a little girl, my Dad used to take photos of the family outings.  He then turned our tiny bathroom into a make-shift dark room and developed the negatives.  He would hang the negatives up in the kitchen on a small wall-hung clothing drier and we took all that skill for granted.  Then he would somehow have prints made of the shots he liked!  As I grew older I became interested in photography myself and had a black and white dark room in my home.  Now, still interested in photography, I have no dark room but Photoshop Elements4.  I now have a digital camera and a slide/negative scanner.

I have always had an interest in taking pictures but my wife was the "serious" family photographer using her film SLR while I was happy to "point and shoot". I bought my first digital camera in 1999 - a Nikon Coolpix 950 - and it costs as much as an entry level digital SLR does today! At that point I became more interested in getting better pictures but I still kept the camera in Auto mode most of the time. In June of 2004, my wife bought a Nikon D70 for my birthday and the adventure really began. I took a Photography class, attended several camera club meetings and joined Gateway Camera Club. Now, photography is truly my passion and I look forward to every opportunity I have to take pictures, share and absorb all I can from the club masters.
